Born in a Louisiana household Kevin Gates’s birthday comes on 5 February 1986 and as of 2023, he is 37 years old. Belonging to a Puerto Rican and Moroccan ancestry Kevin had a troublesome childhood. He is a Muslim and has a birth zodiac sign of Aquarius,  From the tender age of 13, Kevin has been in trouble for lacking parental guidance along with having issues with his dad. 

At a young age, he was evicted and spent time in prison for being a getaway car rider. After growing up Kevin even admitted that this incident of going and experiencing Jail changed his life in certain ways.  In Louisiana New Orleans, he completed his high school graduation at McKinley High School. 

Later for his graduation from college he moved to Baton Rouge and enrolled in Baton Rouge Stata University. Having a troubled past and various jail terms in Louisiana influenced Kevin to grow out and make something good out of his which he did by having a career in the music industry. 

Family

Kevin was raised by his mother Martha Green Gates and his grandmother, his father’s name is unknown. At age 14 Kevin’s father passed away due to AIDS-related health issues just after Keving got in touch with him again. His mother remarried someone new but this caused Kevin to have a step-father who mistreated him. 

Having even troubling conditions he started living at his grandparent’s house where he spent most of his childhood time. In 2015, he got married to Dreka Haynes with whom he shared a long relations ship even before marriage. Later, they both had two children named Islah and Khaza.

Career

Kevin’s working career started at a young age doing nemours jobs to make his living even as a minor.  From writing songs for others to making his own songs his career took a turn around 2007. Initially, he was signed by the Dead Record label for singing. During that time in 2007, he did his first mix tape Pick of Da Litter with Baton Rouge friends Boosie Badazz and Webbie. 

After that from 2007 to 2012, he did mixtapes such as “All or Nuthin,” Make Em Belive.” During 2012 he was noticed by Lil Wayne’s record Young Money Entertainment and Kevin decided to start his own label called Bread Winners Association.  In 2013 The Luca Brasi Story by his own label received praise from many and even one of the songs was named the 40th best song of 2013 by Rolling Stone.

He went on to release various mixtapes afterwards with all receiving significant attention he even did tours for some of the mixtapes including Stranger Than Fiction, By Any Means. Luca Barsi 2 was his 13th mixtape released in 2016 reaching third on Billboard 200. Over the course of Kevin’s career, he made three studio albums  Islah, I’m Him and Khaza, seventeen mixtapes and around thirty-four singles.
